Richard Gowthorpe has Won a Battle at Hastings Magistrates' Court

Richard Gowthorpe has secured an impressive not guilty verdict for a client charged with threatening a neighbour with knife violence.

The alleged offence occurred following England's 2-1 defeat to Croatia during the World Cup in the summer. Richard's client had allegedly been engaged in a heated argument with the neighbour after venting his frustrations at the loss of the match by England. However, Richard managed to persuade the magistrates that although there had been an argument, no offence had been committed and that there was certainly no behaviour involving a knife.

The magistrates only took 15 minutes to find Richard's client not guilty.

The trial has been widely reported in the local press: https://www.hastingsobserver.co.uk/news/crime/st-leonards-man-found-not-guilty-in-world-cup-neighbour-altercation-1-8655486
