Susan Twyman

Prison Law Team Leader

Susan Twyman has practiced as a criminal lawyer but now specialises in prisoner rights and human rights law.

She works regularly with lifers and is experienced in representing prisoners at adjudications. She is happy to assist with any queries relating the treatment of prisoners and their rights in custody. Susan has been successful in bringing cases against the Home Office (now Ministry of Justice) and has obtained compensation for unlawfully detained prisoners.

Susan has a background as an academic historian and taught at London University and other institutions for a number of years. She has published several books including her doctoral thesis on medieval canon law.
