In the early hours of 22nd March 2008, the Blue Room nightclub in High Wycombe erupted into violence. There were CCTV cameras inside and outside which showed dozens of people being involved. A large group had gathered at the entrance and one man was inexplicably swinging a hammer indiscriminately into the crowd. The police were called and as the crowd disappeared, our clients, two brothers, awaited their arrival. They explained to the police that they were upset with the security and management of the nightclub and had been attacked by the mob themselves. They were arrested and the management subsequently turned on them and they stood trial at Aylesbury Crown Court. The man with the hammer pleaded guilty and was sent to prison - he had nothing to do with our clients. Our Nadeem Afzal and Richard Gowthorpe had conduct of the trial and after three weeks of evidence, viewing CCTV and legal argument, both brothers were acquitted of Affray.
