Not Guilty in National Insurance Fraud Trial

Richard Gowthorpe has successfully defended a client charged with fraudulently obtaining two separate National Insurance Numbers with the intention of dishonestly obtaining benefit allowance.

The client, who appeared before Hammersmith Magistrates' Court was found not guilty after trial by District Judge Purdy after he successfully showed there was no dishonesty on his part.

Mr H, who funded his defence on a private basis, was granted a Defence Costs Order which will enable him to recover his reasonable costs incurred in the preparation of his case and his representation at trial.
